New Terminus Release - Moo Cow EP

February 2nd, 2008 · 3 Comments

For those of you that don’t know, Terminus are a new three piece Adelaide grunge band with Tomo on vocals and guitar, Mitch on Bass and Kyle on drums. Tomo and Kyle continue on from the now defunct “Sounds of Dentage”.

Just before the new year, Jamie and I helped Terminus record their new “Moo Cow EP” in Jamie’s back room. Recording was very chilled but quick with all basic tracks recorded in one morning followed by overdubs the next day. Terminus say that the album was particularly influenced by early Nirvana and Silverchair and you can hear it in the grungy rhythms and Tomo’s simple but heartfelt vocals. Terminus will likely be playing some gigs around town this year, so keep checking at their myspace and website.

All the tracks from “Moo Cow” are now available for download as 160kbps mp3s so right click on the links below and choose “download” or “save to disk” or whatever seems like a good idea at the time.

  1. Sonic Negativity
  2. Fluff
  3. Freak (Silverchair cover)
  4. Floyd The Barber (Nirvana cover)
  5. Waited For Years
  6. Thought Torture

Octavio Promotional Tunes

January 30th, 2008 · No Comments

We may have told some of you about the stuff (work?) we’ve been doing for VAF Research. You probably remember us mumbling things about the “Octavio” and exhibiting it in public whenever possible.

Well in recent times we’ve been making some Octavio related tunes which we think are just great and you would enjoy them. The first one is a rap about the Octavio’s distributor “Powermove”. We thought it was a cool name for a company that distributes iPod accessories too. The second is a glorious feat of advertorial media (perhaps from 20 years ago) featuring new-age synthesizers and world music rhythms.

We’ve also been making a podcast and if you’re obscenely bored or want to do us a favour then it would be great if you subscribed to it and listened to an episode every now and then (there are only 2 so far). Subscribing entails opening iTunes, choosing “Subscribe to Podcast” under the advanced menu and entering the url “http://feeds.feedburner.com/wholesalemeatmediablog”. Then click on the get button for any podcasts you want to hear.

Thanks extremely for listening.

New Jonni and da Dope Boyz hitzz

January 29th, 2008 · No Comments

Salame! Here are two new Jonnis tunes. The first is one of our modern indie-pop sort of ripoffs. It features Miles’s brother Lucas on bass, and also contains Miles’s vocal debut!

Midnight Opera
The next one is more in the classic Jonnis style, but we decided to use some Japanese words/phrases in it as Miles has just returned from Japan. Not really sure of the title - maybe ‘Telephone Hello’ will do the trick.

Telephone Hello (Choudo iiiii)

Enjoy!

News Update

January 27th, 2008 · No Comments

Ok well some stuff has a happened in recent times but we haven’t posted about any of it yet. Basically the main things are:

  • The King George Av gig as small but promising cause the hall is huge and the PA decent so there may be more of this kind of thing in the future.
  • Jacob and Jamie recently helped Terminus record their new “Moocow EP” which we should have downloadable mp3s of soon. It’s 6 songs long and includes 2 covers.
  • The Well Meaning Shells are nearly finished writing/recording their first EP/album “Circular Guero“. You can listen to early mixes being posted in the “Secret Leaked MP3s” section on the right. So far it’s looking to be about 10ish tracks long.

More posts on all of these things to come in the next few weeks.

King George Avenue Gig

December 27th, 2007 · 2 Comments

Wholesale Meat Music has always wanted its own venue so that we could have organise ‘Meat gigs to support our bands. It looks like we might have obtained the use of a suitable place! Jamie has somehow convinced his church to allow us to use their hall and its PA system for us to organise our first in-house gig. We are fairly pumped about the idea because this way we can allow new bands to play, have control over the entry cost, and possibly do cool stuff such as live recordings in the future.

So the first gig is:

  • Saturday (sorry for the late notice) 29th of December 2007.
  • 2pm-7pm.
  • 51 King George St, North Brighton
  • FREE

Featured Bands

  • The Milton Experiance
  • Terminus
  • Largely improvised noise set by Milton, Jamie and John (Krinkle Kut)

YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY COME (please)

P.S Do you like the new look of the site? I used a really common wordpress theme cause it rocks, but tried to edit the colours and photos to look more meatlike. Also if you’re bored listen to the upcoming Well Meaning Shells songs in the “secret leaked mp3s” box on the right.

Two New Artists

December 21st, 2007 · 1 Comment

Hey everyone. This is my first post, I’m Tom, a new addition to the WM group. I sometimes do a little bit of tech work here on the site. Anyway, back to the topic.

Just letting everyone know of two new links on the ‘Band Myspace’ roll to the right. The first one is ‘Terminus’, which is my main band. It’s the remaining members of Sounds Of Dentage. We’re still grunge, so the feedback and down tuned songs won’t change.

The next artist is myself again, ‘tomORLY?’. It’s my acoustic work, or songs I don’t use for band myspaces.

Anyway, I’ll probably post around soon.

New Jonnis Tunez

December 16th, 2007 · No Comments

Hello we have some new tunes. For those of you who don’t know, Miles and Me (Jamie) have a brootal two-piece experimental fun band called Jonni and da Dope Boiz. We are known for hits such as CCB, Spontaneous Defication, Where’s My Pie and Goodbye Fanny Bay. Today, however, I would like treat you to some of our newer masterpieces. The first is called Thursday Night Dancing and is basically a Franz Ferdinand/Modest Mouse ripoff with a twist. Listen to it - Thursday Night Dancing

The second is one we recorded this afternoon and is called Boomer’s Party. It is inspired by our good pal Boomer, especially his antics on the d-floor. Give it a listen - Boomer’s Party Enjoy!

Love from Jonnis

The Yak’s Work

December 12th, 2007 · 2 Comments

Salame’! I am uploading two of my songs. Both happen to be from my Year 12 soundtech/arranging work.

Soundtech

This one is my soundtech. It’s meant to be pretty heavy I guess, but with a hint of pokemon music, some carnivale and a zest of JAZZZ.

Zelda Arrangement

This one is my arrangement of the “Lost Woods” music from the great and epic Nintendo 64 game Zelda and the Ocarina of Time. I arranged it into a sort of quirky style inspired by Robert Fripp and the League of Crafty Guitarists - it is a guitar quartet. This recording features Scotta Ricotta, Jenna, Mr K and myself playing acoustic guitars.

Yours sincerely,
Jamie S

New Salamano Song 893582

December 12th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Sorry I’m starting to hate titles. Instrumental songs usually have crap titles also so I thought I better cop out. Anyway this uses a drum sample from Zep I that I processed heaps and cut up etc. It’s a little harsh I find but fun to work with. I tried to get a really goth piano sound using a spring impulse in a convolution reverb. Actually there’s one more sample. The high wailing sound is a chord I plucked from Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring a while back. Anyway - please enjoy. I hope I have time to do more music soon.

Listen to Song 893582 (link)

Thanks.

Jacob and Jamie’s Summer Work

December 7th, 2007 · No Comments

Hey buds. The Goat and I are just starting up our summer jobs that are comprised of using blogs etc for whoever will pay us for it. It is pretty mayhemIK but we hope to begin prospering in the near future. Basically we are trying to find a way to get people to pay us to blog for them instead of working at Maccas but we really have no idea what’s going on yet. We started with some little blogs to begin our empire and get the conversation going at wordpress.com. First stop seems to be with VAF speakers. Mr VAF and Jamie’s dad seem to be conspiring about something that is hard to understand but sounds a treat if we get cool work out of it. The new Wholesale Meat Mediablog is now existent in it’s very own subdomain. Links to our experiment below. Yakface (RSS feed) Salamano (RSS feed) WSE Mediablog (RSS feed)Salame!
